This update is coming to you for two reasons. First, to thank the some 200 of you who signed this letter to the County expressing opposition to the East End Master Plan language which deems the CH Zone District (up to 20 units per acre) to be an appropriate upzone to any residential Future Land Use Category. This type of “non-planning” language will set the stage for upzoning and high-density development in or adjacent to low-density and open-space areas of the region, including San Bernardo, Ski Ranches, West Meadows, and Ophir, to name a few. This is a green light for leapfrog development and unchecked growth without first determining the limits to the region’s carrying capacity, and the cost and consequences of extending infrastructure and limited water to remote areas.  If you have not yet signed the letter, it is never too late, and you can do so by clicking HERE.

Secondly, you should be aware that the County is hosting two public “open houses” tomorrow—Tuesday, October 3, 11 am – 2pm and 4pm – 6:45pm, at Wilkinson Public Library. This is not the public forum with meaningful dialogue that we requested.  Instead, it appears to be a public relations effort to tout the East End Master Plan with no clarity as to how questions will be raised and recorded. If you have time and interest in attending, we always encourage you to participate. However, we predict it will be window dressing, not the substantive dialogue on public record, which is what’s needed to clarify where, how, and how much this future housing growth will occur.

As always, we encourage you to reach out directly to info@lastdollarcollective.com.
