This Friday, March 1 at 11:00am, the Telluride Town Council and The County Board of County Commissioners will be holding a joint session to discuss the fate of Diamond Ridge.  The meeting will take place at 333 West Colorado Ave., 2nd Floor (a.k.a. BOCC room in the Miramonte Building).  Meeting agendas posted by each governmental entity can be found by clicking on the below links:

TOWN COUNCIL AGENDA

BOCC AGENDA

We were quite adamant from the beginning of this journey that it all started with Diamond Ridge.

From….

  • Secret negotiations to purchase to the property, to
  • Speedy and surreptitious adoption of the CH Zone District, to
  • A rezone process that ignored legitimate opposing commentary, to
  • A lawsuit that exposed illegal spot zoning and governmental wrongdoings, to
  • Genuine offers to purchase the property, providing a graceful offramp to the Town & County, to
  • The East End Master Plan as a vehicle to circumnavigate a Court ruling,

….one thing remains unchanged:  The Diamond Ridge subject continues to escape honest conversation.

WHY ARE WE AFRAID TO DISCUSS DIAMOND RIDGE IN PUBLIC?

And in shocking, but not surprising fashion, the Town and County have seen it fit to once again exclude the public from discussions of the property, opting for a joint Executive Session instead of a public work-session. At this point, the three potential fates being discussed have been categorized as “sell”, “land bank” or “develop”.

What can we do?

  1. SUBMIT WRITTEN COMMENTS (even if just a couple words)

Comments are due by noon TODAY (Wednesday 2/28).

Send to: clerkcomments@telluride-co.gov and bocc@sanmiguelcountyco.gov

  1. ATTEND THE MEETING!

Whether the public will be allowed to speak before the Executive Session commences remains to be seen.  However, community attendance at the time the initial public meeting is called to order at 11:00am WILL HAVE EFFECT, so arrive before the 11:00am start time.

As bizarre as it is to request attendance at a meeting where the doors will close, we hope you will participate in this incredibly consequential milestone.  We always appreciate your engagement regarding these important issues, and as in the past, we encourage you to reach out directly to info@lastdollarcollective.com with any questions or discussion points.
